Badminton World Tour Finals LIVE: World No.1 Viktor Axelsen aims to get back to winning ways as he eyes a spot in the final of the BWF World Tour Finals on Saturday, 10th December 2022. Men’s Singles
Anthony Ginting is the only player in the Men’s Singles who is unbeaten in the tournament. He is looking to extend his winning run as he faces his compatriot Jonatan Christie in the semifinal. Both the players met each other in their first group encounter and Ginting clinched a 6-21, 21-10, 21-9 victory. Ginting then went on to defeat Chou Tien Chen and Loh Kean Yew. He enters the contest as the favourite.
World No.1 Viktor Axelsen meanwhile enters the semifinal after losing against HS Prannoy in his last group encounter. The defending champion won his first two matches in straight games and now faces Japan’s Kodai Naraoka. Naraoka defeated Lu Guangzu in the last game. However he will face a tough challenge against the World No.1 against whom he lost 5-21, 15-21 earlier in the tournament.
Women’s Singles
Top seed Chen Yufei will face World No.1 Akane Yamaguchi in the semifinal. Yufei is on a two-match win streak in the tournament and looks to continue his momentum in the tournament. Meanwhile, Yamaguchi enters the contest after defeating Gregoria Tunjung in her previous match. When both the players met earlier, Chen Yufei won 21-19, 21-18.
Tai Tzu Ying advanced to the semifinal after defeating Ratchanok Intanon in her previous game. She now aims to continue her momentum as she faces China’s He Bing Jiao in the semifinal. He Bing Jia is undefeated in the tournament so far and enter the contest as the favourite. She clinched a 21-19, 21-19 victory when both these players met earlier in the tournament.
Men’s Doubles
In the Men’s Doubles, Malaysia’s Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi takes on Indonesia’s Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan. Meanwhile in the other contes, China’s Liu Yuchen and Ou ZUanyi, who are yet to face defeat in the tournament will be up against Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Ardianto.
Women’s Doubles
In the Women’s Doubles, China’s Zhang Shuxian / Zheng Yu pair faces their compatriots Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan. Whne both the pairs met each other earlier in the tournament, Chen/Jia duo clinched victory in three games.
In the other match, Aimsaard sisters will be up against South Korea’s Jeong Na-eun / Kim Hye-jeon. They will be facing eacjh other for the second successive day and in their earlier contest, the Thai duo won the match in straight games.
Mixed Doubles
In the Mixed Doubles, China’s Zheng Siwei / Huang Yaqiong will face Malaysia’s Tan Kian Meng / Lai Pei Jing. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Rinov Rivaldy / Pitha Mentari will lock horns against Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh / Sapisree Taerattanachai
