US Open LIVE: Alcaraz vs Koepfer LIVE – Carlos Alcaraz is all set to begin his title defence in the US Open 2023. The 20-year old will face Dominik Koepfer in the first round. Despite entering the tournament as World No.1, when he takes the court on Tuesday, he will be the World No.2. The match is scheduled to begin at 5.45 AM IST (Wednesday).

US Open Defending champion to headline night session
- All eyes will be on Carlos Alcaraz as he will be playing his career’s first Grand Slam tournament as a defending champion.
- Since he is defending the ranking points in the tournament, even if he manages to lift the US Open title this year, he will still be in the No.2 ranking by the end of the Grand Slam event.
- The Spaniard will however want to live up to the expectations on him. The 20-year old begins his campaign by facing Germany’s Dominik Koepfer in the first round.
- After winning back-to-back titles at the Queen’s Club and Wimbledon, the Spaniard was unable to clinch any title in the build-up to the US Open.
Dominik Koepfer will have an uphill task
- Dominik Koepfer makes his return to the main draw in the US Open since 2021.
- The World No.75 qualified for the main draw directly this year. In 2022, he bowed out from the qualifiers.
- He enters New York after making it to the third round in Winston-Salem Open.
- Koepfer improved the rankings this year after winning the Mexico City Challenger and Turin Challenger titles. He also made it to the final in San Louis Potosi and Prague Open.
- The German featured only in the main draw in Wimbledon earlier this year. He bowed out from the first round at SW19. While he is aiming to register his first-ever win in a Grand Slam match this year, it will be an uphill task as he is drawn against a top player of Alcaraz’s calibre.
Alcaraz vs Koepfer Head-to-Head: Both the players will be facing each other for the first time. Alcaraz will be the overwhelming favourite in he upcoming contest. Koepfer needs a miracle to go past an in-form player like Alcaraz in this stage of a tournament.
